UNTIL LIBERATION AND RETURN is dedicated to the unbreakable spirit of Palestinian resistance, the hundreds of thousands of beloved martyrs lost to Zionist brutality, and the inevitability of liberation. It depicts the future we are fighting for, in which Palestine is finally free from the clutches of Zionism, militarism, and colonial resource extraction. This vision has been sustained by Palestinians against all odds, over seven decades of struggle. In solidarity, we too imagine and fight for a free Palestine in which Palestinian life, joy, and self determination are a given—a free Palestine where checkpoints, tanks, and the suffocating violence of Zionism are no more.

It is the right and necessity of Palestinians to return home and reclaim their ancestral lands. The restoration of the reciprocal and life affirming relationship between Palestinians and their homeland is a critical front for rectifying the devastation of genocide, ecocide, and colonial disposession. When the prison walls fall and the US-funded military machine is defeated, the flowers, the olive trees, and all forms of life are able to reunite with the land and heal. With the tree trunks uprooting the IOF tanks and freedom fighters breaking through the apartheid wall, this mural depicts how the Earth and Palestinians, like oppressed people everywhere, share the common enemy of imperialism and colonialism. And like their struggle, their resistance is also shared.

This mural was imagined by Art Against Imprisonment, Honor the Earth, Palestinian Feminist Collective, SWARM, and Youth vs. Apocalypse. It was then brought to life by local artist Peps 357 with support from Sarah Fathallah.
